Manufactured in 2021 by a large military defense contractor, this Freeze Dried Mozzarella was recently purchased in bulk from a Defense Reutilization Office (DRO) Source. Information suggests that this product was intended for executive branch use, likely to be in underground bunkers for strategic military and congressional leaders and possibly even White House personnel.
You can expect to get 25+ years out of them in the can – and probably as many as 30 to 40 since there is no water or oxygen in the can to spoil the cheese!!!
Instructions to prepare freeze mozzarella cheese include eating as is or rehydrating with 2 cups of water for 1 cup of cheese, leaving it to sit for 5 minutes before draining and patting dry with a paper towel. This process will provide a fresh, shredded texture for recipe use, with the cheese melting like regular store-bought cheese. Enjoy in toasts, sandwiches, casseroles, pizzas, soups, salads, tacos and more.
Once opened, Military Surplus Freeze Dried Mozzarella Cheese can be stored in a Zip Lock bag with refrigeration for up to a year, without refrigeration for up to 60 days, and in the fridge for up to 5 days once re-hydrated. Due to its longevity, this product is ideal for camping, boating, travelling, or any other endeavor where reliable access to food may be limited.
